THANK YOU

COVID CARE TEAM (STNM)

It just started with the plan for small operation of the throat at Namchi District Hospital where covid test was mandatory and next thing I remember is lying in the ambulance with oxygen and my wife by  my side going Gangtok, Sakyothang new STNM Covid hospital. The Covid unit there welcomed me with counseling and options . I choice to admit and then started the treatment with level 2 admission. There were others too, the staff all in PPE suit looked like penguins to me.

They gave me bed and some tablets with oxygen pipe and attached that machine indicating oxygen level in my body. After five days I was in ventilator and realized being tied up in hand and legs as they said that my oxygen level has gone down to critical  that I was restless.  The care and timely intervention of the team stabilized me and transferred me to HDU  (high dependency unit) level 4. There I stayed for one week and experienced  and felt the care and result orientated positive attitudes of the determined Covid team.  Starting from the doctors in the morning round and on calls. The nurses inside the PPE busy and asking every hour about breathing , along with house keeping teams inquiring about hot water and serving food timely  at the very bed of patients. The hard part I saw was the PPE, where some could be peeping through the safety glass, that too the small portion of it   was clear and rest is covered with vapour. And the runner who was only contact between family and us. He could give information of family outside and bring necessities inside.  He was feel good boy for every one as his sound could make us wait for message and medicine from outside and know who else  was waiting for us outside. He used to feel us make like nobody is going died here. “The change” the new government used to say before election is what I experienced in the   attitude of covid care team who are positive, determined and working hard to send every patients home cured and COVID negative . I own my new  life to the Covid team (8th Dec to 23th Dec) and like to thank them all for everything they have done and my gratitude to the present government for the brilliant set up  for covid patients.

Despite the Great Covid Care Team  for us

I urge everyone to know that COVID19 is

REAL & SERIOUS

Travel least, practice safety protocol, eat  healthy and do keep lungs healthy.
