International ozone preservation day at RUMBUK sikkim
INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR PRESERVATION OF OZONE LAYER OBSERVED IN JHS RUMBUK
The international day for the preservation of Ozone layer 2009 was observed in a grand way in government junior secondary school Rumbuk Sombarey west Sikkim on 16th September 2009. The programme was organized by forest department land use Gyalshing, west Sikkim and was assisted by JHS Rumbuk . The programme stated with rally with student of JHS Rumbuk, invitees and local folks, a melodious welcome song from student and cultural show was presented. In the programme Principal of Government Senior secondary school Mr. G.S. Bisht was the Chief Guest. The Headmaster of the school Mr. P. D. Rai welcomed all the invitees and Mr Roshan Pradhan science teacher of the school introduced the gathering was the properties of ozone layer, it’s reason for depletion and it’s effects on the biotic environment , Mr. Nishal Gautam ACF Soreng delivered his speech from the forest department side and elaborated in detail the present scenario of Ozone depletion and the history behind the international day for preservation of Ozone. DFO land use west Mr. D.R. Subba spoke on the departmental aspect of the celebration and need to generate interest and awareness in the public and children of the school. Chief guest Appreciated the presentation of the school, and will carry this very message to his school to create awareness on the effect of ozone depletion . In the said programme a painting and essay writing competition was also held. In which First Prize in painting was bagged JHS Rumbuk, second prize by Govt. Pry School Ambotey and third prize by Govt. Pry School Anden . In essay writing competition, Govt. Sec. School Daramdin, Govt. Sec. School Okherey, Govt. Sec. school Daramdin stood first, second, and third respectively . The competition was participated by 3 secondary school and 1 JHS for essay writing competition and 9 secondary, JHS, primary, Lower Primary school participant in painting competition. Other guest present was BDO Daramdin, headmaster of Daramdin secondary school, okherey Secondary school, RO Soreng, Retd, HM Mr, D, B, Chettri, and other people of the area which came up-to 200 in total.
