On 1st May 2010 an awareness programme was organized by Green leaf
ECO CLUB of JHS Rumbuk with farmer club at their school hall on
CONSERVATION OF BIODIVERSITY on fringe of Barsey Rhododendron
Sanctuary. The programme was financially supported by VHAS Gangtok.
In the programme Mr. Garab Bhutia PGT Bio of Govt. Sr. Sec. School
Sombarey was the resources person who deliberated his speech with
local example which kept the local villagers attached to his speech,
then Mr. Kamal Sharma ICSFO Horticulture spoke on importance of
Organic manure and demonstrated preparation of organic manure with
effective micro-organism (EM), Mrs. Santa Subba Beat Officer forest
department spoke on the forest law , Mr. P. D. Rai headmaster spoke on
the availability of species on 70s’ and now , Mr. P.T lepcha local
flower grower spoke on flower cultivation a viable source of income
and shared his experiences on flower cultivation, Mr. Som bir Subba
Cjief coordinator of farmer’s club spoke on kitchen garden a smart
hobby and in the end Mr. Dhan Singh Subba President GPU Rumbuk and
Chief guest of the day emphasized on the love for plants and public
property, The programme was anchored by Ms. Solomi Lepcha PRT and
vote of thanks by Mr. Gagan Subba Social Worker. The programmed
attended my 60 member of eco club and 30 members of farmer’s club and
local peoples.
