Health Mela


Health Mela was organized by PHC Sombarey , West Sikkim on 12th Feb 2011 at Play ground Sombarey Sr. Sec. school. Under Daramdin Constituency. The chief guest was Mr. R. B. Subba minister R&B Govt. of Sikkim and Special guest were Mr. Tenzi Sherpa area MLA and Dr. Thinly Wangyal Bhutia Chief Medical Officer (west). The mela Provided specialist from STNM Gangtok, Dist. Hospital Namchi and Dist. Hospital Gyalshing for the clinics in Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, eye, medicine and emergency case. Two mobile van for ultra sound and other investigation were also present. In the Introductory speech Dr. Sangita Subba In-charge PHC Sombarey revealed health statues of general public and the infrastructure and man power in health department under Sombarey PHC. The chief guest Mr. R. B. Subba appreciated and effort made by Sombarey PHC and thanked all medical staff of the department. He urged the people to take full advantage of the facilities provided. The Chief medical officer spoke on the aims and objective of the health mela and the people behind.
The mela also provided entertainment with colourful cultural show and skit by Sombarey sr. sec, school and Woodstock school . the mela was volunteered by van driver association sombarey, Sai sewa Samitte Beyong, NCC Sombarey Schoool. The most healthy child award was given to Ms. Lazhemla Sherpa of Anden and most healthy Senior citizen by Mr. B.B. Rai 66yrs. of lower Thambong. The programme ended with felicitation and certificate distribution to health staff and participation along with vote of thanks by Dr. B.K. chauwan MO Sombarey PHC. About 1000 were present on the mela with recorded patient of 941 person.

durga maya limboo AWARDEE NATIONAL CHILD AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT 2010 (SPORTS)
Durga maya limbo youngest daughter of Mr. Bhim Limboo and Mrs. Harka Maya Limboo resident of Rumbuk GPU under Daramdin constituency and an student of Class V of GJHS Rumbuk has been awarded the NATIONAL CHILD AWARD IN SPORTS for exceptional achievement in the field of sports 2010. She is an athletic at the age of 13. she was awarded a cash prize of 10.000/-, silver medal and a certificate by her Excellency the President of India Mrs. Prativa Devi Singh Patil at Rastrapati Bhawan New Delhi on the occasion of Children Day 2010. She was escorted by her teacher Ms. Solomi Lepcha and her elder sister Ms. Geeta Limboo. Her travel expenses to Delhi and support were taken up by Mr. R. B. Subba, Minister PWD Govt. of Sikkim, financial support by Ms. Bindu Subba RO and Mrs. Santa Subba RO resident of the same village and over all responsibilities were taken up by the School Headmaster, staff of GJHS Rumbuk and panchayat president.
Achievement details;
1. Runner up in open girls category Marathon race in Inter GPU level Sports festival Daramdin 2006-07 at the age of 9 years.
2. Winner of 1500mts race and Runner up in open women categories of 8oomts race at district level sports and games meet Gyalshing 2007 at the age of 10 yrs.
3. Winner 3000 mts race in Jan 2008 State rural sports competition 2007-08 under 16 categories sponsored by ministry of youth affairs sports , govt. of India at Gangtok . at the age 0f 11yrs.
4. Third in open women marathon (11 KM) in Platinum Jubilee celebration of Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School Gyalshing west Sikkim 2008.
5. Winner of 800mts and 15oomts race constituency level under PYKKA 2009.
6. Third in 3000 mts race in district level PYKKA meet at Gyalshing in under 18 yrs categories 2009.
7. Third in 800mts and 1500mts race in state level athletic meet 2009 at Gangtok.
8. Winner of 800 mts race under 14 in XIth state level athletic meet 2010 and runner up in 1500 mts open categories.

SPORT FESTIVAL



GOVERNMENT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL SOMBAREY, WEST SIKKIM
First time in the history Government Senior secondary school Sombarey, west Sikkim a Annual Sport festival was organized by the school. The idea was conceived by the Principal Mrs. Manju Subba supported by her dedicated staffs. The festival stated from 11th Oct 2010 to 13 Oct 10. The first day witnessed the event like table tennis, badminton and volley played between the four house of the school. The second have debate, science , quiz and poem recitation in the list. In the third and the final day thereby football match and colourful cultural show was presented . The final day started with warm welcome and brief report on the sport festival by the Principal. In her speech she highlighted the importance of games and sport that brings in students- discipline, physical endurance , team work and sense of dignity in them , thus developing non-scholastic area of the student which is vital according to new pattern of marking in the examination.
The chief guest of the day Mr N.T Lepcha Zilla member west District also shared his experiences and said the sportman can achieve higher post in society.
The final football was won by Yellow house. Best house was declared as Red House followed by Yellow House, Green house and Blue House.
Best Athletic boys was Samir hang Subba and best girls Athletic was Roshmi Lepcha .
Guest of honour was Mr. Sangey Yalmoo manager State bank of India Sombarey branch and Dr. Sangita Subba MO. Other guest present were Mr. Sita Ram Chandak Govt. Contractor, Mr. Namgyal Bhutia Govt. Contractor, Mr. Purna Hang Subba Panchayat U. thambong, headmaster and teacher of Feeder School.
